Kids and Phil Hellmuth Shouldn’t have all the Halloween Fun

Halloween Fun

For Phil Hellmuth, Halloween starts on the first day of World Series of Poker Main Event. He usually piles into the Rio wearing something that attempts to paint him as regal (such as Roman laurel leaves), while being escorted by a number of young ladies who look as though they have been rented from the local Gentleman’s club. For his sake, I hope he can successfully sell the scantily clad models to his wife as just being accessories for his costume. While we have all seen Phil Hellmuth in fancy dress, there are others who we would desperately like to see in a Halloween costume. For example, I am sure that most guys wouldn’t gag on their malt-o-meal at the prospect of Lacey Jones going out on October 31st as a French Maid. Seeing as she has the type of looks that could give Aphrodite some oppressive self-esteem issues, her in that sort of costume may result in the spontaneous combustion of bits in a guy’s brain that creates Dopamine. Why should the poker pros have all the fun though? Halloween is on a Saturday this year, so there is nothing stopping the rest of us from going to a casino in fancy dress.

Unless your costume is a crew cut version of Lady Godiva, most casinos should not have a problem with their patrons dressing up for the Halloween holiday. In many places it may very well be encouraged. It will add to the overall atmosphere of the evening. Those who want to create a costume that matches a casino or a poker theme will find that there are dozens of options for them. A simple internet search for “Poker costumes” will produce hundreds of results. While there is no reason that a poker player must have an outfit that screams “I play poker!!” (hence, Lacey Jones and the French Maid outfit), it could be entertaining. If want to dress up as a poker player, the easiest thing to do is get a “Mr. Clean” mask, and claim you are going out as Gus Hansen.

In short, poker pros, World Series of Poker competitors, and kids under 12 are not the only ones who should be able to dress up and have some fun on Halloween. Go forth and do likewise.
