Is that a Banana in Your Pocket or are You Just Happy to Play Here?

Brande Roderick

Just about anyone whose religion doesn’t include beheading infidels and phrases like “and the blood of the martyrs will run through the streets” would agree that Brande Roderick naked is a good thing. Playboy agreed with this statement so much they made her playmate of the year a few years ago. Conversely the only folks who would want to see Artie Lange without clothing are those whose formative years included cruelty to animals and who think it is okay to keep the heads of close relatives in the lettuce crisper. In short, these are two very different dynamics. Playboy, in its infinite wisdom had decided to put these things together and see how the whole thing pans out.

Sam Simon, a man whose fortune was built on the back of Homer Simpson, has been asked by Playboy to create a show based on the antics and goings on that happen during his infamous home poker games. In this life, Simon can basically do as he pleases; as co-creator of the Simpson’s he has the sort of bank account that he could only spend if he was reincarnated a few dozen times. This means that his poker show will be the irreverent reflection of his personality. His guests will include folks like Norm MacDonald, Artie Lange, Dave Attell, Jeffrey Ross, Jennifer Tilly and Phil Laak.

There will no studio audience, script, or canned laughter. The “set” will basically be Hugh Hefner’s Sky Villa at the Palms Casino in Vegas. The celebrities will simply be set loose with a pocket or bra full of chips, and the cameras will simply record the silliness that ensues. Those looking for world class poker should not tune in; lets face it, this show will not be featuring the planets best players. Basically it is comedians, models, and B-list poker players having a rated R poker party. Those interested can tune in on Thursday at 9:00PM. See your cable guide for details.
