Now that just about everything in life is viewed through the rather annoying prism of the Twilight series of movies, to keep our pop culture street cred, we need to look at poker players and which team they would be slotted into. So who would you be? In the world of Texas hold’em, would you belong to Team Edward, or are you a poker player who would be more comfortable wearing the logo of Team Jacob?
If you are a poker player whose tendencies put you squarely on Team Edward, then you are cautious, occasionally conflicted, overly emotional, and often self-loathing. You are reactionary rather than aggressive and you occasionally sparkle (which could be considered a really obvious tell). You choose not to test yourself against those look like too much trouble, but rather feast on lower animals (such as the fish in a casino or logged in on online poker sites). You probably have a poster of Phil Hellmuth hanging somewhere on your wall.
Those who play for Team Edward are aggressive, action oriented, and occasionally shirtless. The phrase “Discretion is the better part of valor” is a completely foreign concept, and more likely to have wild swings when it comes to their bankrolls instead of consistency. You also probably have really cool hair. Your heroes are probably Phil Ivey and Patrik Antonius (even though both these poker pros miss on the “cool hair” requirement).
There is a third option. This is the players who emulate the poppet in peril, Bella. Basically if you are just a wannabe, this is your team captain.
