In 1977 a young man named Scott Rosenfeld traveled to New York’s Madison Square Garden to see the iconic rock band KISS. By the end of the show, whatever college plans his parents may have had for their son had disappeared in a “poof” of pyrotechnics and guitar licks. Scott Ian Rosenfeld simply became known to music fans as Scott Ian, and he is one of the founders of the band Anthrax. Along with a significant and prosperous recording career, Scott is also a rather good poker player. His skills have been showcased at the World Series of Poker, and he is now a member of the UltimateBet.com poker team as one of their poker pros.
While being a very good cash game poker player, drawing praise from such poker pros as Phil Hellmuth, he has also proved to be rather dangerous in poker tournaments. Last summer Scott lasted longer than thousands of other Texas Hold’em players at the WSOP main event, and finishing in the money on pokers biggest stage.
Scott has gone beyond simply being a member of Anthrax (which is very cool in itself), or being a part of the UltimateBet poker team. He is now a much in demand media figure that has part of the VH1 reality television show, Supergroup, has appeared on an episode of Gene Simmons Family Jewels, and has participated in Donald Trump’s show The Apprentice. So there is obviously much more to him then a Washburn guitar, Texas Hold’em, and poker tournaments.
Currently, Scott Ian still actively tours with Anthrax as well as plays various poker tournaments. He is also married to the daughter of rock legend, Meat Loaf, and lends his talents to her music as well. Add to this the fact that he also indulges his more nerdish leanings by appearing at the occasional ComicCon, and we can conclude that perhaps the best word to describe Mr. Ian is “busy”.
