Most people would assume is someone nicknamed “PearlJammer” were the co-author of a book, the subject matter of the tome would about really epic guitar licks and how to grimace musically. Obviously that is not the case with this particular literary work, and Jon “PearlJammer” Turner is partnered with fellow poker players Eric “Rizen” Lynch, and Jon “Apestyles” Van Fleet as the authors of this tournament instructional.
Seeing as the players involved in writing this book are still very young, it will be some time before we know if these three will be in a class Brunson, Hellmuth, and Chan, but they have all done very well for themselves, and have the enough clout in the industry to give their advice validity.
The book is broken up into four sections. Each of the three co-authors takes a section to give their personal philosophy towards the game, and go over various hands they have faced in the past. The fourth section is a collaborative effort where each player is asked to give their impression of how to play a particular hand.
While overall the book was very good, and certainly informative, I found it seemed a little disorganized at times. The structure is rather simple; allowing each author to take a section, but it would have been better organized had it contained chapters built around central themes. That would have made it easier on the reader.
If organization is the worst thing that can be said about this book, they are ahead of the game. Overall it is informative, and makes the reader think about their own game. All in all, this was a worthy effort and well worth $19.79 price tag.
