The Only Poker Book You'll Ever Need by John Wenzel

The Only Poker Book You'll Ever Need by John Wenzel

This book goes so far as to proclaim that it will be the only poker book you'll ever need. The author, John Wenzel, is certainly a skilled writer - as editor-in-chief for south Florida based "Poker Pro Magazine" he knows how to make a point about poker. He also knows how to win - having spent the last 25 years bringing home a profit playing the sport. Now Wenzel brings it all together to help all levels of poker players learn to play better, win more often, and master the game in his latest book.  "The Only Poker Book You'll Ever Need: Bet, Play, and Bluff Like a Pro - from Five-Card Draw to Texas Hold 'em" starts out as a bit of a slow read - instructing you on watching and playing to learn. Such basics as the deal, antes, blinds, betting, and selecting your game are covered well enough for a novice player to grasp. The second section of the book zeroes in on probability - this section might lose some beginners - but it offers good lessons on pot odds and other mathematical approaches to your game.  The final chapter seems to be pretty basic for the "only book you'll ever need." Here Wenzel discusses poker psychology, including your table image, and how to see bully, timid, and thinker types of players among your opponents.  The book is a well-rounded, general overview of the tools you'll need to grasp the sport and increase your chances at winning. Readers will be treated to plenty of wise tips and tricks - intended to make winning "easy" according to the author. While it may not be "the only" poker book you'll want to purchase - it is not a big investment. You can purchase the book online for around $10 to see for yourself if it works.
