Gus Hansen's new book "Every Hand Revealed" completely validates the old adage that you can't judge a book by its cover. Looking at his photo on the front of his newest literary work reminds of Max Schreck from the 1921 vampire horror classic, Nosferatu. If you can get past the photo though, you will find this book is an absolute gem.
"Every Hand Revealed" helps the reader get into the head of one of poker's most accomplished players. This book provides in depth analysis of over 300 hands he played during his run at the Aussie Millions as well as mind set that drives the mechanics of his game. Players will learn at the feet of this Holdem master bluffing techniques, how to win when your hand is worth less than K-Mart stock, and how to confidently do the sort of things that scare the hell out of most competent players like raising out of position when you have absolutely nothing in your hand.
While learning from Gus how the prize structure in a tournament should dictate how you play, and an absolute avalanche of information about how to work with unplayable hands without folding, we will have to add the qualifying statement that his style of play is not for everyone. If you fall into the "feint of heart" category of poker player, following Mr. Hansen's advice is a good way to burst a blood vessel.
This book bounces between thirteen and sixteen dollars, depending upon where you buy it. At either price it is a great value, and for those with the guts to play like Gus, this will be a valuable tool.
