Tom McEvoy and T.J. Cloutier dont need to be introduced. They are both very successful poker players and good writers, who have an ability to make their guides to the game interesting and enjoyable. Championship Tournament Practice Hands is not an ordinary book on poker theory. As you might guess, it contains very useful how-to information concerning your tournament hands. The book is divided into three parts, which are Limit Holdem Practice Hands (mostly written by Tom McEvoy, the http://www.launchpoker.com/sp/wsop/ winner), No-Limit Holdem Practice Hands (mostly written by T.J. Cloutier who holds more titles in pot-limit and no-limit holdem than any other player in the world) and Key Hands at the WSOP. The authors teach you how to act with a particular kind of hand on every position. Some readers blame these guys (mainly T.J.) for being too tight. However, in this book they tell you how to make a profit of some risky hands. The reason is that the guide is oriented to tournament players. Since luck plays much bigger role in tournaments than in ring games, you sometimes will have to take a stand with a 7-2 type of hand because the alternative is even less appetizing. But the more skill you have, the more chance you will have to get lucky, assert the authors. So, reading this book is a good opportunity for you to learn to be lucky. The third section, Key Hands at the WSOP, is not only a very useful example of how professionals use their cards but the most intriguing part of the book. Here you can find the most interesting events of the WSOP from 1978 to 2002. You see very unpredictable games and the authors comments on the players actions. If you enjoy poker, it would be like reading a good detective story with unexpected endings for you. Other books by these authors:Championship No-Limit & Pot-Limit Holdem by T.J.
