Championship Stud: 7-Card Stud, Stud/8 written Razz by Max Stern, Tom McEvoy, and Linda Johnson, is a paperback packed with poker info on games that are often overlooked by today's players. This out of print book is sought after by players who are willing to pay a hefty price - over $100.
At a hundred bucks, one wonders if a return on investment is possible. The basics on seven different stud games is offered, but that information is easily found elsewhere. Stud, being fairly straightforward, doesn't need many in-depth analyses, which you could expect from Texas Holdem, or perhaps Omaha.
Pages of philosophy and entire books have been written on the nuaces of Holdem, and stud just doesn't inspire that kind of minute examination. The book is good, as far as information about stud goes, but at this price it would be better to either buy another books on the subject, take the money and actually play stud and learn by doing, or a nice combination of both.
If the book is reprinted at a reasonable price, then it is worth picking up, but not for over a hundred bucks.
