While we all love poker, Texas Hold'em, poker tournaments, and anything that has to do with the industry. Being "poker players" is not all we are about. Most poker players have interests that go beyond what happens during a hand of Texas Hold'em or Omaha. That is why we have the Poker lifestyle section...
Courage is usually an admirable quality. It was courage that helped 139 members of Britain’s 2nd Battalion, 24th (2nd Warwickshire) Regiment of Foot defend a tiny mission station against 4000 Zulu warriors back on the 22nd of January 1879. Well…courage and a Short Chamber Boxer-Henry .45 caliber cartridge, a bayonet, and a lot of guts behind it. Eleven Victoria Crosses were awarded for this stand. British pub aficionado John Nugent and his alcoholic life partner David McKenna probably will not be receiving one of those awards anytime soon. Their actions against BBC reporter, Paresh Patel, will make them the type of YouTube stars that makes the “Leave Britney Alone!” guy look like William the Conqueror by comparison.
John Nugent and David McKenna decided they had a problem with BBC Reporter Paresh Patel. Actually it was probably the presumed half-dozen pints of Guinness that made the decision, but I digress. They harassed him, harangued him, abused him, and didn’t realize that Patel’s self control wasn’t actually borne of fear, but rather he was doing his humanitarian best not to kill the hooligans. Patel, 46, is a former world kung fu champion. For him to get into a fight with these two would sort of be like Heracles vs. Gary Coleman. While we all know that Coleman has a short fuse, and is quick to use his tiny fists of fury, he would be no match for the Greek hero…or anyone over the age of 12.
Paresh Patel had finally had it with Nugent, and in a lighting quick move, floored his antagonist with a strike to the face, and a kick to the groin. Nugent, showing the intelligence of someone who ate paint chips as a kid, got up and continued to harass the reporter, and got punched again for his trouble. This continued until the police hauled Nugent away…probably for his own protection. People should learn that when they have been over served, it is best they stick to drunk dialing. You never know when your liquid courage is going to help you run afoul of a martial arts expert.
