Apple Texas Hold’Em for iPhone

Texas Hold’Em for iPhone

I don’t know if Steve Jobs is a poker player. While he does bear a small resemblance to Gabe Kaplan when he lets a scruffy beard grow out, and he has probably appeared at his share of celebrity poker events, Steve just doesn’t’ seem to have a vibe that says he knows how to slowplay a flopped straight. Despite this, his company has managed to create a poker app for the iPhone that is not only the most popular poker app available for his iPhone, but the most popular app available for the popular media device.

The first thing that jumps out at someone after they have added this app to their iPhone is the graphics. Unlike other products that show very cartoony hands, the apple version has you playing against a graphics representation of a real person. The game allows you to pick apart your opponents play, as well as look for tells, and gives you access to their betting history. While playing against the apps stock players, they have added a nice little wrinkle to this program by allowing you play against real people as well.

Apple Texas Hold'em allows players to wirelessly connect with up to eight other people and play Texas Hold'em using only the iPhone. Those who are constantly on the go will find this is a valuable way to have game night at times when all the players are not currently sharing the same zip code.

There are a number of other little intangibles that make this app well worth playing. The controls are very easy to use, the point of view and display can be changed, and they give you the opportunity to taunt an opponent if you like. In other words, this is not a bad way to spend $4.99.
