"Best Damn Poker Show" Reunites Phil Hellmuth and Annie Duke

Best Damn Poker Show

Phil Hellmuth and Annie Duke will reunite for another season of the “Best Damn Poker Show.” For those who are unaware, this program (sponsored by UltimateBet) is sort of like the Texas Hold'em version of the UFC’s “The Ultimate Fighter” show. In many ways, the only noticeable difference is the fact that nobody gets punched in the larynx or choked out during the Best Damn Poker Show.

Phil Hellmuth and Annie Duke play the role of occasionally combative poker instructors who job it is to coach up a group of players who are wannabe poker pros. Phil and Annie take these folks in hand, and get them ready to compete against each other. The person who has not been eliminated after seven episodes will be declared the winner.

What surprised a lot of people about the return of this show was the fact that the Best Damn Poker Show was not reviewed very well after its maiden season. People did find a lot of value in the poker strategy and poker tip advice that came from the Phil and Annie, but the poker pros couldn’t save it from lacking in entertainment value.

Hopefully this time a more interesting group of players managed to qualify at UltimateBet, and got through the various filters that generally keep boring people off of television. Poker Channel Europe will be airing this show on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. While the quality of the entertainment is in some doubt, what we can be sure of is quality poker strategy advice and poker tips, as well as a good deal of uncomfortable sniping between the two resident Texas Hold'em professionals. Hopefully this time the angst will seem more organic and less forced then it was during season one.
